Overslept and missed the morning Free Tour. After finally managing to drag myself out of bed at 10am, we made our way to the tourist information desk to plan our route around London. It wasnt't particularly helpful save the guy who gave us the theatre schedule and the woman who pointed us towards the bus stop.
Took the bus to Tower Bridge and my first thought was .... Were the others kidding when they said Tower Bridge looked better than London Bridge? Watch a little medieval action in the courtyard of the Tower of London and had some authentic Fish and Chips. Accompanied by dozens of aggressive pigeons that were furiously pecking the ground around us. We walked along Thames Path West and I found out they weren't joking when we got to London Bridge. It was just like any new modern bridge. -_- Maybe it really fell down and they had to construct another one. We walked along and got to the Millenium Bridge which was the bridge that wobbled and snapped in the Half Blood Price when the Death Eaters came into London. Went across into Tate Modern for some modern arty farty exhibitions before crossing back to St. Paul Cathedral.
Walked to Covent Garden, passing the Royal Courts of Justice and LSE (another uhhh.. moment) which sold the usual knick knacks and had a deliciously expensive tart. The Mille Feuille was sold out unfortunately. Felt a sudden 'calling' to try our best to catch some theatre which we had initially given up hope on. How could one come to London and not catch theatre! So we started chionging around West End to see which of them still had seats available. The theatres were not close by mind you. From the November Girls' Noel Coward Theatre to Hairspray's Shaftesbury Theatre, we finally settled on Wyndham Theatre's Shawshank Redemption. Only after buying the tickets for the play and trying to enter did we realise and remember it was the 25th October. That meant daylight saving and we were an hour early. We could have caught a musical instead. No Les Miserables, Phantom or Billy Elliot. Sigh. Oh well... Went to the tube station nearby to replace yj's Oyster Card and eat something light before going for the play. Though an unfamiliar touch of nudity and vulgarity too many, it was still not bad to say the least.
Walked up Tottenham Court back to Stanhope and detoured to Sainburys. It spelt variety! The likes of which I hadn't laid eyes on since NTUC. It was definitely a welcomed change from Netto. Haha.
