Dublin: New Europe Tour and Shopping

Fantastic and sinful breakfast in the morning. Walked around Temple Bar before going to City Hall for my first New Europe Tour. Ok. Since I'm supposed to be mugging for my exam and have no time, the tour is going to be cut short into this: Dublin Castle, big green patch of grass (for the Queen to land in her helicopter and drink tea at the castle), Chester Beatty Library with the second largest collection (in Europe/the world I can't remember which) of Islamic books, the 40 Step stairway (something to do with someone called Jonathan Swift), Christ Church Cathedral, The Four Courts in a distance, break (where we found Queen of Tarts), Temple Bar, Merchant's Arch, Ha' Penny Bridge (named thus cause people who wanted to cross it had to pay half a penny in the past), along River Liffey, O'Connell Bridge, the Spire in a distance, Trinity College (if only NUS looked half like that, I would be more excited to go to school), Leinster House (their parliament house) and finally St. Stephen Green (full of pretty autumn goodness).

A side note about the tour guide, Shane. He kept pacing back and forth, bending his head at some uncomfortable angle as he whizzed through centuries of Ireland's history from the medieval ages. It was virtually impossible to take a proper photograph of him standing straight. He gave us quite a detailed account of Ireland's 700 year history, rife with wars in a battle for independence, but watching him made me dizzy. Ended up not tipping him although he was kind enough to wait for us each time we had to catch up with the tour group after our phototaking frenzy at each attraction. I guess the most significant thing he said was that Ireland's bankrupt. Haha.

Went to St. Stephen Green Shopping Centre for lunch and toilet break after breaking tour. The first damage came at TK Maxx. Then m had a bad time getting her tax refund voucher because TK Maxx ran out of it. Like huh ?!?! They asked her to come back the day after. Last stop of the day was Penny's (Ireland's Primark) where the first bomb, Fat Man was dropped. I bought something irrational and had a crappy time getting it back to Aarhus.

Generally loved Ireland's tax refund scheme but I will only be truly happy when the money comes back. Heard the process is so crappy I might as well abandon the idea of getting a single cent back. >.<

Got ingredients for our hostel-made dinner at night. Spaghetti Bolognese, albiet rather watery, but still nice anyway. Had Bailey's Original with vanilla ice cream after returning to our room. Earlier, a and I had gone to a few supermarts to buy it for our taste of Ireland. Someone had thrown an egg (presumably at us/me) as we were turning into our hostel. Good thing it didn't hit anything else save the pavement. Urgh. The unhappy aside, while waiting for each other to bathe, we had an interesting time trying to recall George Lam, his name in English, Mandarin and a song called 选择. Haha. Then there was Sally Yeh and wl's contribution of 潇洒走一回 while she was bathing. Haha.
