Banded from morning till about 8pm just now. Ended early cause we’d be travelling a bit tomorrow. Band will be half day. After which we’ll be going to Aachen, some German town/city. Might have to buy shoes there though hopefully I can just make do with my boots.
Bitchings about the tour guide. Since this morning, he had been drinking while we were practicing. Like seriously imbibing in bright daylight. He got drunk. Went around talking nonsense. Nonsense like: "Play better already is it?! That’s why released earlier!" when the actual reason was because we were going on a day tour in Aachen the next day. This reminds me. Wasn’t he the tour guide? Shouldn’t he already know our itinerary?! One fateful bus ride to Wielderhoes, he asked the bus (in general) a do-you-know-why... question. Nobody answered. Feeling the tension in the atmosphere, hl replied helplessly, allowing him to break into a one sided dialogue that fell on deaf ears. Nobody bothered to acknowledge him, yet he carried on obliviously, trying to talk to us. Oh ya, that's when he wasn’t busy bossing/lording us around with a schedule he had no clue about. On and on he droned while we either sniggered behind his back or ignored him.
Tension during combine when a certain section mate blew up at a couple of clarinet guys and other miscellaneous happenings. Hmm.. Still, thank goodness for some normal people.
Our first walk to Plus, the nearby supermarket! =)
2 Italians came today. They sound good. But they are kind of loud and now the whole band dislikes our section cause (including the Dutch who came yesterday) the section is pretty much causing imbalance in the instrumentation.
After getting back to Beukenhorst, we went traipsing towards town. Wj, hw, ws, jama, hl and I. Took a good 40 minutes of random scenic shots, gaping at cows and cautious avoidance of slugs on the path. Reached town to find closed shops and a setting sun. Met 2 guys from the other guesthouse and hypothesized town to be the midpoint between the 2 guesthouses.
Racing against sunset, we brisk walked back to Beukenhorst.
